The first European settlers in Canada were not the French, but a small number of Vikings about 1000 years ago, or around 500-600 years before New France was a thing.

Also, the first non-domestic automaker to set up shop in North America was Volvo, with a plant in Halifax.

So, in short, Atlantic Canada is pretty much EXACTLY like Scandinavia.

Makes sense. I’m told I look like a Viking. Must be cause I’m more Canadian than everyone else.

That’s actually the second plant - they built CKD PV544's on the Dartmouth side of the harbour (across the bridge) before that facility opened.
Another fun Atlantic Canada/Scandinavia fact: first IKEA in the Americas opened in Dartmouth in 1975 (it was in an industrial park just past the ship on the right side of the picture).

Fun fact: I’ve been there. Back in about 1980, my family made a driving trip from Norfolk, VA all the way up to L’Anse aux Meadows and St. Anthony. Whole trip took a month.
